Ministry at SSJ

But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ... For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.

Ephesians 2: 3-10

Baptism is the sacramental initiation into the Catholic faith, and Deacon Jim Mackin begins the process with you and your child. The Sacrament of Baptism is such a special time for family to come together and announce their faith in God and in the Catholic Church. The newest member of our Parish family is welcomed fully after this, the first Sacrament of our faith.

Faith Formation
bearmuchfruit banner.jpg

We provide opportunities for both children and adults to grow in their knowledge of God and of the Catholic Faith.  We help to prepare students for the celebration of the sacraments and to build a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Gospel message and worship. Through gospel reflection and discussion, students learn that we are all created out of love, which fosters a healthy sense of worth.  We strive to nurture the call to live out our Baptismal promises that we serve one another in love.  We seek to involve the entire family in this formation, as the family is the domestic church and are the first teachers of the faith.

412 Youth & Young Adult Outreach

As community youth group, we aim to strengthen our teen’s Catholic identity, while rooting them firmly in Christ and His Church. Our goal is to excite the youth to be “on fire” for their faith and to bring them closer to God. We do this in action with mission trips and retreats, in words with ‘Holy Grounds’ bible study, and in faith while we lead our community in Christ’s name.

Our Young Adult ministry is designed to engage, inspire, and support Young Adults within the Parish community to live an abundant life through the beauty and realness of our Catholic faith. The goal of this ministry is to allow those in their 20’s and 30’s to be enriched in Christian community at monthly social gatherings with other local parishes with many leadership opportunities through our mission trips and with involvement in our community.

RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group setting to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and traditions of our Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. The process is a formation which requires time, insight, questions, and the sharing of your faith story. Our setting is warm and accepting to all.

The goal of the Social Outreach of SSJ is to provide a stable connection to the Catholic Faith by administering to the sacramental needs of the elderly and by providing services, food, and clothing to those in need. We are always looking for volunteers to do God’s work!

SSJ Cares
Living Room Church

God created us to experience life with other people. Even Jesus surrounded Himself with a group of trusted friends when He lived on earth. The past, present, and future of Christian communities is a relationship with our neighbors and with Jesus. SS. Simon & Jude Parish encourages all of our parishioners to join a small group and experience a “Living Room Church.”

Our small groups are groups of three or more people who gather each week in a comfortable environment: in a home, in a workplace, in a coffee shop, or at SSJ. In our groups, as you grow in relationship with Jesus, study scripture, pray together, and cultivate community.

Groups come in all shapes and sizes. Whether you are single, married, or widowed; a man or woman; have kids or don’t have kids; are under 20 or over 70; no matter where you are in life, there is a group for you – all in God’s presence.
